Cirey Les Nolay is a pretty hamlet set high above the charming mediaeval market town of Nolay, birthplace of Louis Carnot, credited with leading the victory in the French Revolution and surrounded by the vines of the Haute Cote de Beaune appelations.The 13th century market halls are surrounded by quaint streets, bars, restaurants and antique shops.

Nolay offers a good selection of shops together with friendly bars and restaurants, serving locally sourced produce.

The region is ideal for walking or cycling holidays, indeed just below the house a disused railway has been converted to 'Voie Vert' cycleway which meanders from Epinac in the west to Santenay in the south east and then joins the pretty Canal du Midi and on to Chalon sur Saone.

To the west is the Charming town of AUTUN, gateway to the Foret de Morvan national park, known throughout France. To the east and via the stunning world renowned wine producing villages such as St Romain, Mersault, Volnay and Pommard lies the jewel in Burgundy's crown, the beautiful medieaval city of BEAUNE, just 20 minutes away.

Beaune is the cultural and wine capital of the Burgundy region and offers the visitor a myriad of attractions, festivals, superb wine and restaurants.

The area is at the heart of the French Autoroute system meaning driving is easy and access is quick and convenient. You may also want to take advantage of France's high speed rail service with the TGV station at Le Cruesot Montceau Montchanin being just 30 minutes away. All the major car hire companies have offices at the station or nearby. The nearest airports are Dijon Bourgogne (1 hour), Lyon (2 hours) or Geneva (2 hours 20 mins), all having regular flights from the UK and Europe and again, car hire is easily available from each airport.
